A PowerPoint presentation on architect and urban planner Le Corbusier, who had perhaps the greatest individual influence on the built environment of any thinker of the 20th century. The presentation provides a brief timeline of his life; a review of his areas of influence, including painting, sculpture, architecture, and urbanism; and a review of some of his most notable works, including the Villa Savoye, the headquarters of the United Nations, and the Notre-Dame-du-Haut church.

Metro Economies Report, June 2009

PowerPoint slideshow that accompanied the presentation of the June 2009 U.S. Metro Economies Report at the 77th Annual Meeting of The United States Conference of Mayors (USCM) in Providence, Rhode Island, 12 June 2009. The report was a preliminary report on the results of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, also known as ARRA or the stimulus, focusing particularly on the need for greater investment in surface transportation infrastructure in metro areas. It was presented by Tom Leppert, then mayor of Dallas.

A PowerPoint presentation on the 2004–05 University of Utah Honors Think Tank, a collaborative, interdisciplinary group of 14 students led by two faculty members that conducted a study of the revitalization of downtown Salt Lake City. These slides, prepared for a presentation to a committee of Salt Lake City officials, present an overall summary of the group’s yearlong efforts.

The United States

A PowerPoint presentation on the United States for a class at Radboud Universiteit Nijmegen in The Netherlands. The PowerPoint presents three American cities with which I was most familiar at the time—Washington, D.C., Charlotte, and Salt Lake City—to lead the class in a discussion on cities and urbanism in the U.S. The closing portion of the presentation focuses on two issues the Dutch students in the class wanted to discuss: gun violence and the role of patriotism in building a national identity and community in the United States.
